Who is behind Bamboo?
I'm Alisa Lamont, a philanthropy practitioner, educator, researcher, and lifelong learner.
For more than 25 years, I've had the privilege of working alongside donors, nonprofit leaders, boards, executives, faculty, and students. Across higher education, consulting, and the nonprofit sector, I've helped organizations think deeply about philanthropy and the relationships that make it possible.
I've always been curious about the human side of giving. What inspires someone to make a gift? What creates trust between a donor and an organization? What makes people feel that they belong to something larger than themselves?
Those questions led me to doctoral research exploring how belonging, trust, and institutional relationships shape philanthropic engagement among historically excluded alumni. The research deepened what I had already come to understand through my work: philanthropy is not simply a transaction. It is a relationship, and relationships deserve care. Read my dissertation →
